SKIPATHON TIME!!

On the 15th of February All Saints school did a skipathon, with loads of activities including double dutch, partner skipping and long rope jumping. Year Six also helped out with the KS1 skipping. The other activities were timed jumping; where we had to see how many times we could jump without stopping and how many skips we could do in one minute. Then we moved on to the grass to do fun skipping with different ropes like the ankle ropes and different coloured ropes. Then we moved on to the playground and did some partner skipping. After that we went on to the football pitch and did some skipping relays in groups. Finally we did long rope skipping and double dutch. It was good fun and we enjoyed skipping all day. In the afternoon the school had a skipping assembly.

A week of fun global citizen studying

This week at All Saints school we have been thinking and learning about good global citizens. Each class thought about what makes a reliable global citizen and how their skills, personality and knowledge affects the world. Yr6 came up with many ideas such as; believing in what the are doing; buying fairtrade; knowing what the problems in other countrys and knowing how to prevent them or stop and helping them use powerful, courage and determination.

We read a book called Window. It was about the way the enviroment changed over the years from a beautiful countryside to a busy city. The author drew this picture book to show and tell us what our world will be like around the time of 2020. It is a very special and unique book that makes you want to completly change the way we respect our country. The author wrote a note at the back that told us lots of information and encouraged us to treat our world with pride and consideration.

She said:

'We are changing the face of our world at an alarming and increasing pace.

From the present rates of destruction, we can estimate that by the year 2020 no wilderness will remain on our planet, outside that protected in national parks and reserves.

By the same year of 2020, a quarter of our present plant and animal species will be extinct if we continue at the current growing pace of change.

Already at least two species become extinct each hour.

Our planet is changing before our eyes. However by understanding and changing the way we personally affect the enviroment we can make a difference.
This story taught us a lot about our world and it has become a massive matter in our life.
WE BELIEVE WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD, CAN YOU HELP!
