childrens rights

Yesterday Micky and Lukwan took pictures of the afternoon assembly. It was about children's rights. We learnt a lot about children's rights all week. We wrote our own rights and rules and ordered the most important to least important. It was really fun and everyone enjoyed the subject. Everyone was very passionate about every single thing we learnt and it made us think about how privileged we are and how ungrateful we are about the things we have when other people in other countries don't have anything. In class we watched a movie on U tube about a girl in Africa who never claimed or thought of herself unhappy. She went to school and loved it with all her heart. Other people in her town didn't go to school but she didn't boast about it she asked people if they want to go to school and she made a lot more children have an education. We also watched the sound of music. We debated about the father and whether the children should answer to a whistle. We all said that Captain Von trapp should be more like a loving father than a ship captain towards the children. They should not answer to a whistle as they are not animals and they should be able to call their father "dad" and not "Captain Vontrapp". In the assembly each class in the school told us what they had been learning about during the week.
Thank you for reading YR6's blog (by Micky and Lukwan).
